The stats are in and the majority of Australians simply aren’t fitting enough movement into their day. In fact ABS figures from 2012 show that only 43 per cent of adults were sufficiently active, with the highest levels of activity within the 18-24 year old age group, and with activity decreasing as age rises.
The recommended minimum level of exercise is 150 minutes a week, preferably as at least five 30-minute sessions, and consisting of moderate or vigorous activity. Although keep in mind this is only a minimum recommendation!
Our group fitness classes are run in 12 week blocks and offer one or two 50 minute sessions a week, meaning they can be fit into a lunch break, or take place before or after work, with ease.
One of the extra benefits of incorporating a fitness program into your workplace is it will often offer the motivation and starting point for your staff to concentrate on their personal health, with all the attached benefits of healthy staff.
Boxing classes are a particularly popular option, with boxing providing a number of benefits as your chosen activity. It’s well suited to group fitness classes, and being a higher intensity activity can not only burn calories during the sessions, but also in the following hours.
In fact boxing is widely considered the activity of choice for relieving stress, offering a great outlet, as well as being plenty of fun.
